Step 1: Grind Your Coffee:
Grind Haciendo coffee beans to a medium-coarse consistency. This ensures optimal extraction and a balanced cup of coffee. If you feel as though the coffee didn’t contain the notes you had hoped for, consider adjusting grind size for the next batch.

Step 2: Prepare the Chemex:
Unfold the CoffeeSock filter and place it in the Chemex. You can rinse the filter with hot water to preheat the vessel, but it isn’t necessary. If you do, be sure to discard the rinse water.

Step 3: Add Coffee Grounds:
Measure the freshly ground coffee – a standard ratio is 1:15 coffee to water. For example, if you’re using 30g of coffee, aim for 450g of water. Place the coffee grounds in the center of the filter. As is the case with all coffee brewing methods, there are so many variables, options, and opinons. Feel free to try other ratios, such as 1:16 or even 1:14 depending on the coffee bean.

Step 4: The Bloom:
Start the brewing process by pouring just enough water to saturate the coffee grounds evenly. Allow it to bloom for about 30-45 seconds. This releases the trapped gases, enhancing the flavors!

Step 5: Pouring Technique:
Begin pouring water in a circular motion, starting from the center and spiraling outward. Maintain a steady pour, avoiding the edges of the filter. This ensures even extraction and appropriate agitation.

Step 6: Patience is Key:
Allow the coffee to drip through the filter gradually. Chemex brewing is a slow process, and patience rewards you with a refined, well-extracted cup.

Step 7: Final Pour:
Once the initial pour is complete, continue pouring water in 100ml stages until you reach the desired coffee volume. Take your time to appreciate the aroma filling the air.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy:
Remove the CoffeeSock filter, discard grounds, and rinse. Then you’re ready to savor the distinctive flavors of Haciendo Coffee Roasters. Pour into your favorite mug and relish the rich, nuanced taste achieved through Chemex brewing.
