Cold Brew
Cold brew coffee is a versatile, delicious, and convenient way to enjoy coffee, especially during warmer months. Its smooth, less acidic profile makes it a favorite among many coffee drinkers. The method of preparation involves steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in cold water for an extended period, typically 12 to 24 hours. The result is a smooth, rich coffee concentrate that can be diluted with water or milk to taste.
Here are some things to keep in mind when making cold brew:
1. Always use fresh coffee from Haciendo (whole bean/fresh ground, about 5-7 days is ideal)
2. Use filtered water or some sort of good water. This helps with overall taste!
3. The best cold brew filter we have ever used is from COFFEESOCK. Be sure to use one of their amazing reusable filters when you brew!
4. Use a good ratio (recipe) and measure! Kitchen scales are pretty cheap these days. My favorite is about $15 on Amazon.
The recipe to the right is for one quart (32 oz) of Cold Brew you can multiply the coffee and water x4 to do a full gallon.

Our whole bean coffees come in 12 oz bags. Brewing methods, cup size, and preference all will affect how far it will go, but a 12 oz bag should be about a two-week supply for 1-2 coffee drinkers. You can always increase, decrease, or pause your subscription if needed. Keep in mind, you want your coffee to be fresh, so don’t order too many bags at once.
