We have put together a fool proof way to brew Cold Brew at home. You just need these three things:
- Our fresh roasted, whole bean, Cold Brew Blend of coffee.
- A reusable, organic cotton, one gallon filter from Coffeesock.
- A mineral packet from Third Wave Water to add to one gallon of distilled water.
(Cold brew coffee is made by taking fresh roasted coffee, grinding it really coarse, placing it in a filter within a pitcher or jar, pouring the cold water through the grounds, and then steeping it for 12-24 hours in a refrigerator)
The coffee beans used for the Cold Brew Blend are from Ethiopia & Nicaragua.
The Ethiopian coffee is an organic specialty and traceable coffee sourced from the Uraga washing station, which is located in the high altitudes and semi-forest of Guji, located in the South of Oromia Mountains. This coffee was processed naturally by both Mike Mamo and Ture Waji, aka “The King of Guji!” Ture has strong connections to the land, its community and farmers, as he grew up in the region.
The Nicaraguan coffee is from the mountains of Jinotega, Nicaragua. Over the years, Don Felipe and his family perfected his processes ensuring the finest specialty coffee is produced. The farm’s future is safeguarded with sustainable practices and they are committed to the highest social, economic and environmental standards for their fellow Nicaraguans. Protected from the sun by a canopy of shade trees, the high mountain grown coffee cherries ripen slowly enhancing their pleasant flavor. Harvested by hand, the cherries are wet milled daily with spring water. The seeds of the cherries, or beans, are naturally dried in the fresh air and strong sun. The dried green beans are exported directly to Texas for roasting.
CoffeeSock Cold Brew filters are a reusable alternative to paper filters or nylon sacks and are made from Certified Organic Cotton. They are durable and may last a year or more. These filters outperform any comparable disposable and reusable filters.
Cotton absorbs some of the oils released from coffee beans yet lets acids pass through.
